Frequently Asked Questions

What makes Memorial Health Center Foundation a good investment for my gift?
Memorial Health Center Foundation is a sound investment for your gift for two main reasons — system and spirit.

As a system, Memorial Health Center is well managed. Our centralized budgeting process helps us plan expenditures for priorities over multi year periods.

As an organization, Memorial Health Center is mission-driven. While our healthcare services are widespread, they make up a single organization whose long-standing values reflect our commitment to provide the best care to every patient, every day through integrated clinical practice, technologies, and a successful Aspirus system network.

Will my gift really make a difference?
Memorial Health Center is not always able to open new centers, upgrade expensive medical equipment, and start new wide-ranging programs in healthcare service on its own. Credit lines of support, bonds, and grants are limited.

Medical discoveries have never been greater than today. For example, molecular research is revealing new information about a wide range of illnesses — pointing the way to new methods of diagnosis, treatment and prevention. To make these advancements an opportunity and benefit for the communities we serve, Memorial Health Center depends on support from patients and friends who share our dedication to medical progress.

Why does Memorial Health Center need philanthropic support?
Philanthropy is a vital source of funding for our mission of excellence in patient care. It supports facilities that are technically advanced yet warm and welcoming for patients, visitors and staff. Philanthropy touches all aspects of our mission and every campus in the Memorial Health Center organization.

How are philanthropic funds allocated?
Standing committees, comprised of senior administration and Memorial Health Center medical professionals, allocate philanthropic funds according to priorities and budgets that are determined to meet the Memorial Health Center mission. The Memorial Health Center Foundation follows and supports these collaborative priorities for the greatest impact and advancement for quality healthcare services today, and in the future.

May I specify how I want Memorial Health Center Foundation to use my gift?
Of course. You may specify your gift designation when making a gift online or by using the Printable Donation Form (PDF). You also may consult the Foundation’s Executive Director to help determine the best "match" between your charitable and financial goals and Memorial’s needs. Send us an e-mail or call (715) 748-8835.

I’m confused. Do I make my check out to Memorial Health Center or Memorial Health Center Foundation?

For the best tax circumstances, write your check out (or bequeath your funds) to Memorial Health Center Foundation.

Memorial Health Center Foundation’s mission is to ensure that quality primary medical care is always available and convenient to the people of this area. The Foundation’s contributions are directed towards Memorial Health Center’s state-of-the-art primary care facilities and advanced medical technologies for all its entities.

May I give anonymously?
Yes. We honor requests for anonymity. Please state your wishes in writing.

What are Memorial Health Center’s financial goals?
We are a not-for-profit organization dedicated to excellence in patient care. Our goal as an organization is not to accumulate wealth for its own sake, but rather to meet our current and expected obligations as we serve patients through advanced medical technologies and services today, and in the future.

Who governs Memorial Health Center?
Memorial Health Center is 50% owned by the community and 50% by our system strategic partner, Aspirus. Our governing board includes equal representation between physicians, administrative Aspirus leaders, and public members who represent a range of expertise in numerous businesses and industries.

Is Memorial Health Center Foundation a not-for-profit organization?
Yes. The Memorial Health Center Foundation is a 501 (c)(3) charitable organization. Contributions are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law.

Who governs the Memorial Health Center Foundation?

Memorial Health Center Foundation is a non-stock and not-for-profit corporation organized as an affiliate of the Memorial Member Association; the Foundation’s Board is comprised of not more than 15 public members with expertise in finance, service, and business, in addition to community representatives who are simply hard-working, everyday constituents of the industries and communities served by Memorial Health Center.

How do I include Memorial Health Center Foundation in my will?
In making a bequest to Memorial Health Center Foundation, many benefactors specify a certain amount to be given. Alternatively, you may choose to give a percentage of your estate after other obligations are met.
